Peer Review Process
Submission of Articles
The editorial board accepts for consideration scholarly articles that correspond to the thematic profile and scientific and technical level of the journal. Materials that do not correspond to the scope, editorial requirements, or standards of academic integrity may be rejected at the stage of initial editorial assessment by decision of the Editor-in-Chief or an authorised member of the editorial board.
Peer Review
The journal adheres to international standards of academic integrity and applies double-blind peer review, under which authors and reviewers do not know each other’s personal data. Before a manuscript is sent for review, all information that may identify the author is removed from the text.
Submitted articles undergo an initial editorial assessment and are then sent for review to independent experts from Ukraine and other countries. Each article that has passed the initial editorial screening is sent to at least two reviewers. Authors or co-authors of the manuscript, as well as persons who have a real or potential conflict of interest, are not involved in the review process.
The peer review period is from 4 to 8 weeks.
The editorial board of “Ways to Improve Construction Efficiency” asks reviewers to confirm the absence of any conflict of interest at the stage of manuscript selection for review or after receipt of the manuscript.
If a conflict of interest is identified during the review process, the reviewer must immediately inform the editorial board and withdraw from further review of the manuscript. In such cases, the editorial board follows the recommendations and flowcharts developed by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) in order to ensure the objectivity and transparency of the peer review procedure.
Reviewers’ Recommendations
Reviewers provide recommendations regarding the further consideration of the manuscript and one of the following conclusions: accept without changes, accept after revision, send for repeated review after revision, or reject.
Reviews are submitted to the editorial board with an indication of the reviewer’s position, academic degree, and academic title. The author receives the content of the review without any information that may identify the reviewer.
Articles that require revision are returned to the author with comments. After the changes have been made, the revised material is resubmitted and, by decision of the editorial board, may be sent for repeated review.
Manuscripts for which a decision to reject has been made are not reconsidered, except in cases where the editorial board considers it possible to submit a substantially revised text as a new manuscript.
Decision-Making and Publication
The final decision on the publication of a manuscript is made by the Editor-in-Chief or the editorial board, taking into account the reviewers’ recommendations.
The section in which the article will be published is determined by the editorial board and approved by the Editor-in-Chief or their deputy. Based on the accepted and revised materials, the table of contents of the next issue is formed, approved by the Editor-in-Chief, and recommended for publication by decision of the Academic Council of Kyiv National University of Construction and Architecture.
Authors are responsible for respecting the copyrights of third parties, the accuracy of facts, proper names, geographical names, quotations, and other data, as well as for the quality of the text prepared in Ukrainian or English.
The editorial board carries out literary and technical editing of manuscripts and may make linguistic, stylistic, and technical corrections that do not alter the meaning of the text without additional approval from the author. Substantial changes that may affect the content of the manuscript must be agreed with the author.
Submitted materials are not returned.
Appeals
If the author disagrees with the results of the peer review, they may submit an appeal in the format “reviewer’s comment, author’s response”.
Appeal materials are considered by reviewers or other involved experts, after which the Editor-in-Chief or the editorial board makes the final decision. If necessary, the manuscript may be sent for additional review.
The editorial board reserves the right to refuse publication if substantial comments have not been properly addressed, and the author is informed of the decision separately.
