Policy on Mandatory Ethical Approval

The collection of scientific papers “Ways to Improve Construction Efficiency” complies with the applicable legislation of Ukraine and supports COPE recommendations in the field of publication ethics concerning research involving humans, animals, their biological materials, as well as personal, confidential, or other sensitive data.

Mandatory ethical approval is required, in particular, if the research:

  • involves human participants as respondents, survey participants, interviewees, observed subjects, experimental participants, or in other forms of research interaction;
  • is related to the use of human or animal biological materials;
  • includes research involving animals;
  • involves the collection, processing, analysis, or publication of personal, confidential, or other sensitive data;
  • in other cases falls under specific requirements of the legislation of Ukraine or the internal regulations of the institution where the research was conducted.

In the text of the article, authors must provide information about the obtained ethical approval, including the full name of the body that issued it, the date, and the number of the document or protocol.

If the research involved human participants, the authors must confirm that informed consent was obtained properly, voluntarily, and in a form understandable to the participants.

The publication of personal data, images, or any other information that makes it possible to directly or indirectly identify a person is permitted only where there is an appropriate legal basis and, where necessary, the written consent of the relevant person.

If, according to the legislation, the nature of the research, or the decision of the authorized body, ethical approval was not required, the authors must state this explicitly in the manuscript and briefly justify the reasons for its absence.

The editorial board has the right to request copies of the ethical approval, informed consent documents, or other supporting materials from the authors if this is necessary to verify compliance with ethical requirements.

In the absence of mandatory ethical approval, improper presentation of the ethical aspects of the research, failure to provide supporting documents, or identification of violations of ethical standards, the editorial board may refuse to consider or publish the manuscript and, after publication, may apply appropriate editorial measures in accordance with the journal’s editorial policy.
